Our history
From early setlers
Migrants came in late 1940s and started residing in in Bentley area. They attended nearby churches in Queen’s Park and East Victoria Park. The number of parishioners grew until such time when Bentley required a church of its own.
Humble beginning for parishioners
The very first Church was a ‘tent’, erected behind Warwick Street, for around 60 people and the only furniture was a wooden altar painted in white.
Land for school and church
In 1952, an acre of land in was purchased in Palmerston Street for school and church complex. First official Parish Priest was appointed in November 1954.
Dedicated church building
Church congregation and school enrolments flourished, parishioners worked tirelessly as a community to build a dedicated church building. On 30th May 1963, Santa Clara Church was officially blessed and opened.
Celebrated 50th year in service
Our parish continued to flourish, commenced major renovations in 2012, completed in time for its 50th year celebrations in 2013.

OUR PATRON
St. Clare of Assisi
